Sarah was born in Saudi Arabia and spent most of her childhood in the Middle East before moving to Calgary in 1996.
Sarah attended Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), where she received a diploma in photojournalism in 2006. She also attended the University of Calgary, where she received her Bachelor of Communications degree in 2010. Between her studies, Sarah taught English and interned as a photojournalist for a newspaper in Dalian, China.
Her passion for film and television led to a career as a video editor in Calgary and then as a television producer in Dubai, where she was sent to open an international office and produce a reality TV show for a Calgary-based television production company. In 2010, Sarah attended the University of Saskatchewan, where she majored in international studies before transitioning to law school in 2011. She did her last semester of law school abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, where she spent six months studying environmental law, intellectual property law, and the legal system in South Africa.
Sarah received her Juris Doctor in 2014. She articled at Iginla & Company in Edmonton, where she primarily worked in personal injury and criminal law. She was called to the bar in in Alberta in May of 2016 and in British Columbia in June of 2016, shortly after moving to Victoria, BC. Over the last four years, Sarah has done some civil litigation, but her practice has been primarily focused on family law. Sarah worked at Hart Legal’s Victoria office for several month in 2018 and jumped at the opportunity to join Hart Legal’s Vancouver office in March of 2020.
Having lived, worked, and attended school in several different countries, Sarah has established a diverse background, which enables her to connect and empathize with people from all walks of life. Sarah is driven by a lifelong passion for remedying injustice. Her acute skills as a negotiator often enable her to obtain favourable out-of-court settlements for her clients; however, she is a fierce advocate for her clients when necessary, and has successfully represented her clients in Provincial Court, Supreme Court, and arbitration.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her pets and her partner, Chris. She has maintained her passion for traveling, enjoys swimming, reading, hiking, and working out.
