What do you do?
I first started as a volunteer with Hart Legal and took on any tasks or opportunities that were given to me. This allowed me to gain knowledge in all aspects of our firm from administrative and legal tasks to the “behind the scenes” business aspects of the firm. This opportunity has allowed me to become a well-rounded employee and I can help out and do a little bit of everything in the office(s). As I have slowly began to establish myself within the company I now function as the “central hub” for all Hart Legal offices. A big part of my job is to create files for our clients while managing and overseeing all incoming client intake for our offices across Canada. This includes daily communication with support staff and lawyers to make sure our system runs as effectively and efficiently as possible.
What are your strengths?
I am an ambitious and disciplined person and believe that people should always strive to achieve their passions and goals in life, no matter how big or wild it may seem. You can always accomplish it as long as you stay focused and dedicate yourself. I take everything in life as a learning experience; every problem has a solution and every mistake comes with an opportunity to better yourself.
What are you passionate about?
Learning! I love learning new things and believe that education comes in forms beyond sitting in a classroom. Every day I talk clients and every day I am taught something new; it could be as simple as learning a new legal term to being given a problem where I am able to critically think and provide solutions. I am not one to shy away from asking questions, I think it’s one of the best ways we can learn and expand on our knowledge.
What are your goals?
Currently, my goal is to finish my bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Victoria (April 2017). After graduation I will be applying to law school and can’t wait for this new journey to begin!
