What do you do?
I am the Human Resources Manager of Hart Legal, and I also help out with some legal assisting where needed. The main focus of my job is to ensure that we have a top-notch team, that everyone is well supported, and that we are meeting and exceeding our goals to be an exceptional law firm. Though I primarily work in our Victoria office, I am also responsible for the management and support of our growing Vancouver office.
What are your strengths?
I am a positive person, and I truly believe that if you really want something, you can achieve it through hard work and dedication – you just have to set your mind to it. I am also very organized and strategic in the way that I approach a task or a project. I feel that my positive can-do attitude combined with my organizational skills have been particularly useful in my position with the firm as I am often taking on new and challenging projects.

What is your passion?
I love to learn, and I love a challenge. I distinctly remember telling the Managing Partner, Darren Hart, when I was being interviewed that, “I need to be challenged. If I’m bored, I’ll leave.” Two years later, I really feel that this office has been the perfect environment for me to develop in my career as I am constantly learning and challenging myself, and most importantly, I always feel supported by our team when doing so.
What is the best perk of your career?
Opportunity. Since I started in May of 2011 I have always considered myself incredibly fortunate for the opportunity that Hart Legal has given me. The culture of our firm is incredibly supportive and empowering. Having started at Hart Legal somewhat fresh out of university with a degree in psychology and minimal office training, the culture and team here has really supported me to grow into my current position. Also, I really enjoy the opportunity that I have to work between both Victoria and Vancouver as I feel that the exchange between the two cities often gives me a refreshed perspective and a renewed energy towards whatever project I may be working on at the time.
What are your goals?
Professionally, my goal for the next 5 years is to grow with the firm, and help build it to be an increasingly innovative, respected, and successful firm. Educationally, within the next 5 years I plan to do a professional MBA program in executive management so that I may continue to learn and develop as an individual, and so I can use this knowledge in my role at Hart Legal. Personally, as a long distance runner, my goal is to continue training and to beat my personal best records. As a young professional I am really excited by what lies before me with the firm, and I can’t wait to see what happens!
