“Fear is a reaction, courage is a decision” (Sir Winston Churchill)
Separation and divorce can be one of the most difficult times in a person’s life. Now, more than ever, it is crucial to make decisions with courage, rather than fear. Sometimes, it takes courage to leave a relationship. Other times, courage is making a deal with some tough compromises. And at other times, courage is standing your ground when there is no other option but to go to Court. I am passionate about empowering every client to improve their lives and their families’ lives. I cannot promise it will be easy, but what I can promise is that I will work tirelessly and advocate fearlessly for my clients every step of the way.
What drives me
My interest in family law developed while attending law school at the University of Calgary. I volunteered with Student Legal Assistance, a pro bono legal services organization, where I ran numerous trials and contested court applications. At the end of my law school tenure, I was awarded the Provincial Court Judges Award of Merit for my contributions and involvement with Student Legal Assistance. I began working with a boutique family law firm in downtown Calgary during law school, and I remained there through my articles and my call to the Alberta Bar.
Areas of law
I enjoy assisting my clients in all areas of family law, including divorce, common-law separation, prenuptial, post-nuptial, and cohabitation agreements, guardianship, international child abduction, child and spousal support, and custody disputes.
Outside the office
When I’m not at work, you can find me volunteering with Student Legal Assistance, practicing yoga, traveling, or spending time with my family.
