If you are separating or thinking of separating you must get legal advice, especially before you move out, even if the legal advice is preliminary in nature, at least you will get info on processes, options, strategy and what is achievable and how to protect yourself, your assets, credit, income, children.
Q2) How do you find a lawyer?
Referral from someone you trust, friends, family, professional associates, CBA referral service, Google. You should interview at least 2 but probably 3 lawyers to gain perspective and find the right fit and read their websites before you meet them to gather info on their values and approaches to the practice of law.
Q3) What qualities do you look for in a lawyer?
This is somewhat individual, need the right fit, someone who shares your values, who clicks with you, who is authentic, objective, caring, sensitive to your needs, what is important to you, intelligent, hard-working, strategic and purposeful with a good track record of success.
